Committee Member, The Rowell Award - The Art of Adventure
The annual Rowell Award celebrates the accomplishments of famed climber/photographer Galen Rowell and his aviatrix/fellow adventurer Barbara Rowell, who both perished in a tragic plane crash in 2002. The Rowell Award honors that adventurer whose artistic passion illuminates the wild places of the world, and whose accomplishments significantly benefit both the environment and the people who inhabit these lands and regions. Here are photos from the 2010 Award event in San Francisco featuring the Award winner Craig Childs, event speaker David Breashears, and four high-altitude Sherpa guides who have worked with David on his Everest film projects and expeditions: Jangbu Sherpa, Kami Sherpa, Nawang Sherpa, and Nima Sherpa.
